When an unexpected crisis threatens your organization’s ability to serve your community, funding shouldn’t be another obstacle.

The Western Emergency Support Fund is a national grant program that provides fast, emergency funding to eligible organizations experiencing unexpected disruptions to community service delivery.

Who can apply: Canada Revenue Agency registered charities, municipal or public bodies delivering a function of government in Canada.

Maximum Award: up to $10,000.
Program type: National, Rolling applications.

Western Emergency Support Fund

Fast-response funding for Canadian charities in crisis.

The $100K Emergency Support Fund provides rapid, trust-based funding of up to $10,000 to registered Canadian organizations facing urgent and unexpected challenges.

This includes both community emergencies and internal operational disruptions that threaten the delivery of essential services. This fund is designed to help organizations act quickly when something unexpected puts people, programs, or services at risk.

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.

The Western Emergency Support Fund has reached its 2026 annual cap. If your organization is facing an urgent crisis right now, the following may be able to help:

  • Your local Community Foundation
  • United Way — find your region at unitedway.ca
  • Your provincial government's emergency community services fund

The Grant and Eligibility

The Western Emergency Support Fund aim to provide emergency funding for eligible Canadian organizations with annual revenue under $1.5 million, that are faced with community or organizational emergencies that affect essential operations. 

Eligible applicants include Canadian charities or qualified donee registered with CRA that operate or serve communities where Western Financial Group has operations. Check if you're in our community.

Funding details

• Up to $10,000 per grant 
• Decisions typically within 5 to 8 business days
• Fast track support in as little as 48 hours for urgent cases
• Funding supports immediate needs within 0 to 90 days
• Applications accepted year-round on a rolling basis

A total of $100,000 is available to fund. Eligible organizations can apply for a maximum of $10,000.
