What goes into a claim at Western?
Insurance experts at Western Financial Group understand the insurance perils and risks you face. As your brokers, we have access to superior insurance carriers and products that grow with you as your requirements change. While we are on your side to answer your claim questions and help you navigate what’s to come, your insurance company makes the final decision.
A claim is when the “rubber hits the road” — we know that. This might be the first time you’re seeing your policy in action. All insurance claims work similarly — they can be broken into four stages:
Reporting the Loss
The claims process begins when you report any insurable loss to our team. At Western, we know a claim is a challenging time and the extra pressure is unwanted. We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible. During business hours call your local broker or the after-hours/emergency phone line at 1-877-599-7299.
Business Hours:
- As your broker, we start by confirming your policy details and asking for up-to-date contact information. Our ability to stay in touch helps the process run smoothly. You’ll be asked to provide a detailed description, in your own words, as to what happened. The quicker we can pass this information along, the faster proper steps can be put into place. At Western, we pride ourselves on transparency. Our team will ensure your claim has been reported to your insurer right away and you’ll receive a summary of what you can expect. Anticipate being contacted by an adjuster, who might also assign an additional expert to assist, such as an appraiser or contractor, depending on the nature of the claim.
After-Hours/Emergency Toll-Free Line:
- We’d always prefer that Western be the first point of contact, but this is not always possible. If you’re having an emergency and cannot reach your broker or it’s after business hours, call 1 (877) 599-7299. Our after-hours service is comprised of expert independent insurance professionals who will review the details. If it’s an emergency, an adjuster is immediately assigned to your file. Otherwise, your broker will receive a report, the claim will be set up with your insurer and an adjuster assigned.
Once the claim has been reported to the insurer, we, as Western, will advise if you or your primary insurer has a question or concern. Other than that, the claim is between the parties of the contract.
Investigation
At this point, your claim has been turned over to the insurer and an adjuster has been assigned to investigate the details of the loss. The information you provided when reporting the initial loss comes into play at this moment. As the client, you are in the best position to expedite the handling of the claim by working directly with your adjuster. The insurer will guide you through the claim while fulfilling their duties.
Quantify the Loss
If the investigation finds the claim is covered under your policy, an adjuster will evaluate and determine the amount of loss, often with the use of experts such as appraisers or contractors to ensure fairness and accuracy. All experts are there to help you resolve your claim.
Claim Settlement
Your deductible is factored in and your insurance carrier pays out the claim. Together, we’re looking for a fair resolution for you—who purchased the initial policy—and the insurer as well.
