Since 2001, the Western Communities Foundation has invested over $9 million into serving local communities across Canada.
Through infrastructure grants, bursaries, and emergency relief, we support public health, education, housing, and recreation initiatives that help Canadians thrive.

- 400+ community projects funded
- From revitalizing the Lake Country Health Hub in British Columbia to supporting the Red Deer Senior Resource Centre in Alberta, our infrastructure grants have helped build safer, more inclusive spaces across Canada. In 2024 alone, we supported 37 infrastructure projects, including climate-resilient upgrades, accessible recreation spaces, and community wellness centres.
- 1,750+ Inspirational Bursary Awards to high school students overcoming adversity
- Our bursaries have supported students across the country, like:
- Taylor W. from Elkford, BC, who overcame personal challenges to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher.
- Tristiana A, Peter Skene Ogden Secondary, 100 Mile House, BC, honoured for her perseverance in the face of adversity and her commitment to post-secondary education despite significant obstacles.

- In 2024, 135 students received awards, including Indigenous youth supported through our dedicated bursary stream.
- Annual National Walk for Safe Places, engaging thousands of employees and raising over $100,000 for local charities
- In 2024, 87% of Western employees participated in the Walk, raising $100,200 for over 100 local charities. The event marked its 20th anniversary, with a new theme focused on creating safe, inclusive spaces. Participants walked in over 150 communities, from High River to Saint John, showcasing the power of collective action.
- Indigenous Infrastructure Grants supporting reconciliation and community resilience
- In 2024, grants supported projects like the Mountain Métis Community Centre in Grande Cache, AB, and the Reconciliation Park at Goose Lake High School in Roblin, MB. These initiatives promote cultural preservation, accessibility, and youth empowerment.
