Our Values

Day in and day out, the interactions of our people are rooted in four guiding principles: Truthfulness, Fairness, Value and Loyalty. For customers, that means honesty and accountability from your Western insurance experts; trust and loyalty; hard-earned knowledge of our business; and longstanding relationships with enduring value.

Diversity and Inclusion

At Western, we embrace diversity in its broadest sense – making it an integral part of the way we do business. This means providing opportunities for all team members to expand their interests, build their skill set, and advance in their careers. This also means providing policies and programs to help our employees to get things done at work, at home, and in the community. We’re also working hard to ensure our workplace is inclusive and accessible to a workforce that is from backgrounds that vary by race, ethnicity, social background, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, and national origin.

Advancing Her Career: Rebecca Raynbird

Rebecca Raynbird started with Wyatt Dowling Insurance in 2002 as an Insurance Advisor (IA), in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the beginning of her very successful career.

Rebecca remembers feeling very excited to join the company because she was looking for further opportunities to grow her career and Western was able to provide just that. Western continued to grow, adding new brokerages to the organization each year, which created more job opportunities.

Rebecca’s success as an Insurance Advisor led to her assuming more responsibility. In 2020, she was promoted to Branch Manager of Wyatt’s Empress location. In 2021, Rebecca was again promoted as a Leader of Sales and Service Centres.

Rebecca says that she is proud to work for Western because we truly care about our employees. “I am proud to work here because of all the understanding and compassion shown to employees – taking swift action during COVID-19 to protect us and providing constant guidance and support. I am also happy to see the continued focus on providing the best customer experience. We are always looking to improve the customer and employee experience.”

As well, it is very important to Rebecca how there have been so many positive changes over the years, including improvements to employee benefits and a much larger focus on wellness in the past few years. “I have also seen us grow on the digital side with a larger focus on how to help customers the way they want to be helped, from having a digital signature option to allowing customers the ability to do the majority of their insurance from the comfort of their home.”

Rebecca says she is thankful to work for such an amazing company. “There’s always been so much room to grow with Western and many opportunities available to everyone.”

Rebecca feels very happy to see all of the teams looking out for the best interests of Western’s customers and each other.

“I am very proud of the dedication the team has, when a new employee starts their career, everyone takes ownership of making them successful. We have a very large focus on working as a team and it shows when you are in the branches.”
