Celebrating the Grand Opening of Winnipeg Dakota Street Location
Cheers to a Milestone Rooted in Community and Collaboration!
A fresh start and a powerful moment of unity took place on November 17 as we celebrated the grand opening of our new Winnipeg branch on Dakota Street. This move brings together the former St. Anne’s Road and River Park Village (Wyatt Dowling) branches into one vibrant, customer-ready location.
Team Members across Manitoba, Customers, and special guests gathered for an uplifting ribbon-cutting event to mark this important milestone. It was a celebration of progress and purpose anchored by remarks from our CEO, Grant Ostir and Billie Cross, MLA for Seine River, who helped honour the significance of the day.
Welcoming Our Community with Intention
The day began with a respectful Land Acknowledgement recognizing Treaty 1 territory, followed by a reflection on how this branch represents Western’s growth, our commitment to accessibility, and our belief in a future where every Customer is seen, heard, and supported.
Western’s guiding principles—Truthfulness, Fairness, Value, and Loyalty—came to life as attendees toured the new space, met with our team, and learned about the intentional design approach behind the transformation.

- Ribbon-cutting ceremony with Grant Ostir, Irene Poetker (Branch Manager), Craig Kozolwski (Chief Technology & Information Officer), Darren Sinclair (SVP, National Branch Network), and Billie Cross, MLA for Seine River.
- Guided tours of the new space, showcasing inclusive features like auto-operated doors, wheelchair-accessible counters, universal washrooms, and a cozy refreshment station.
- Recognition of our construction partners: Lemay (design), Iris Construction (build), and ArtMetz (furnishing).
