Good Heart Hours: Giving from the Heart, One Donation at a Time
At Western Financial Group and the Western Communities Foundation, supporting our communities is more than a value, it is part of who we are. Through our Good Heart Program, team members are encouraged to dedicate paid volunteer time to causes that support the places where we live and work. This summer, that spirit of generosity is taking on a lifesaving purpose through the Give from the Heart campaign.
Launched in partnership with Canadian Blood Services, Give from the Heart encourages team members across Canada to use their Good Heart hours to support blood, plasma and stem cell donation efforts. The campaign offers a simple yet powerful way to turn volunteer time into lifesaving support by helping ensure essential products are available for patients when they need them most. Team members can register with Canadian Blood Services, book an appointment that works for them, invite a colleague to join them and log their volunteer hours through the Good Heart hours program.
Several Western team members in High River, Alberta rolled up their sleeves and visited their local Canadian Blood Services clinic as part of the campaign. Their participation reflects the heart of what Good Heart is all about, using our time, energy and resources to help others when they need it most.
At the Western Communities Foundation, supporting people and contributing to local well-being is at the centre of everything we do. Seeing team members rally behind a cause that can have such a direct and immediate effect is both inspiring and humbling. While not everyone may be eligible to donate blood, the campaign was intentionally designed to be inclusive and accessible. Employees can participate by donating, encouraging others to donate, helping spread awareness or supporting the initiative in other meaningful ways.
The Give from the Heart campaign also highlights the power of collective action. A single donation can help multiple patients, but when teams and communities join forces, that generosity reaches even further.
