Western Celebrates Diversity Month with new Employee Resource Groups

Celebrate Diversity Month takes place in April every year. It was initiated in 2004 to recognize and honour the diversity of the world around us, be it gender, race, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, and other factors while honouring the common essence of humanity.

As we celebrate Diversity Month, we’re excited to announce two more ERG groups at Western. An Employee Resource Group (ERG) is an employee-led and driven group of employees with common interests and or backgrounds that connect, learn, and develop new skills and positively impact the business. Later this month we are excited to bring together folks in our community to take part in the Single/Working Parents and Asian ERG groups across Western.

Our 6 ERGs create spaces for our team members to connect, learn, and develop and for allyship to take root and grow!

Access-Ability Teammates & Allies

Dedicated to promoting a culture of inclusivity and empowering current and future team members with disabilities to strive for success. This group supports a platform of constructive dialogue, education, and empowerment.

Asian Teammates & Allies

Provide its members with the ability to share their cultural heritage through cultural events, and offer educational and professional development opportunities, networking, dialogue, and support.

Indigenous Teammates & Allies

Provide its members with the ability to share their cultural heritage through cultural events, and offer educational and professional development opportunities, networking, dialogue, and support.

Pride Teammates & Allies

Support growing and celebrating a culture that includes the diverse interests and experiences of LGBTQ+ team members and allies. Members would work within the five pillars mentioned above and in alignment with the ERG terms of reference.

Single working parents Teammates & Allies

Provide resources and support for all facets of family life for single/ new parents/ co-parents dealing with toddlers, tweens, and teenage children

Ukrainian Teammates & Allies

The vision of Ukrainian Employees & Allies Employee Resource Group is to promote, celebrate and enhance the awareness of Ukrainian culture across Canada while providing meaningful support to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. The ERG is a group with strong ties to the Ukrainian community through our heritage and friendships.
