Western Financial Group is proud to celebrate Sabrina Draper, Insurance Advisor in High River, Alberta, who has been named one of Insurance Business Canada’s Top Insurance Brokers for 2026. Sabrina is one of only 20 professionals selected for this year’s national list, which recognizes brokers who earn client trust, deliver strong service and stand out in Canada’s insurance industry.

For Sabrina, the recognition reflects the value of advice that is personal, practical and grounded in a genuine understanding of each customer’s needs. Insurance decisions can be complex, especially when people are protecting a home, a vehicle, a business or the many details of everyday life. A trusted advisor helps make those decisions clearer and gives customers confidence in the coverage they choose.

Working in High River, the community where Western’s story began more than a century ago, Sabrina carries forward a tradition built on local relationships and trusted advice. Her work is rooted in listening carefully, asking the right questions and helping customers understand not only what their insurance covers, but why that protection matters.

That relationship-based approach is especially important as customers face changing risks, rising costs and an increasingly complex insurance market. A strong broker does more than arrange a policy. They translate technical information into plain language, identify potential gaps and help clients make informed choices that fit their circumstances.

Sabrina’s recognition also reflects the role insurance advisors play in Western’s commitment to care, convenience and trusted advice. Every meaningful customer experience begins with someone who takes the time to understand what matters, explain the options and be present when questions arise.

That commitment to customers is also being recognized at the organizational level. Western Financial Group has been named a 2026 Excellence Awardee for the Outstanding Customer Experience Award at the Insurance Business Canada Awards, recognition that reinforces the collective focus Sabrina and teams across Western bring to creating thoughtful, positive experiences for customers.

Being named a Top Insurance Broker by Insurance Business Canada places Sabrina among a select group of professionals recognized from across the country. It is a meaningful acknowledgement of the trust brokers build over time and the difference thoughtful, knowledgeable advice can make in the lives of customers.

As insurance continues to evolve, the human side of the profession remains essential. Customers still need advisors who can connect the details of a policy to the realities of their lives, offer perspective when choices are difficult and build relationships that last beyond a single transaction.

Insurance Business Canada’s 2026 Top Insurance Brokers report will be published on October 14, shining a national spotlight on Sabrina and the other professionals selected for this year’s list.

Congratulations, Sabrina, on this well-deserved recognition.

Q&A with Sabrina Draper

Trust is at the heart of a broker-client relationship. What does earning that trust look like in practice, and how has your approach changed as customers’ needs and expectations have evolved?

Sabrina: I take the time to listen to our customers’ needs, understand their situation, and recommend the right protection for them.

I focus on building long-term relationships through honest advice, reliable service, and being there when clients need support. As client expectations have evolved, I've adapted by providing more personalized advice and responsive service. The trust I've built is reflected in the many loyal clients who continue to refer their friends, family, and neighbours to me.

Insurance often matters most at moments of uncertainty. Can you share what you believe customers need from their broker during those moments, beyond the policy itself?

Sabrina: Customers need reassurance that their coverage is in place and a clear understanding of what to expect after a loss. I take the time to explain how their coverage applies, what deductibles are involved, and how the claims process may affect them moving forward.

Clients also need an advocate. When a claim occurs, we are often able to assist by discussing the situation with their adjuster, answering questions, and helping escalate concerns when needed. Being available, providing clear communication, and supporting clients through the process helps give them confidence and peace of mind during what can be a very stressful time.

Looking ahead, what changes in risk, technology or customer behaviour do you think will most reshape the broker’s role, and what should advisors do now to remain indispensable?

Sabrina: As risks become more complex and technology continues to evolve, brokers will need to focus on providing personalized guidance, proactive communication, and strong advocacy. While digital tools can make insurance more efficient, they cannot replace the value of experience, empathy, and the personal relationships that clients rely on during important life events and claims.

To remain indispensable, advisors need to stay educated, adapt to new technology, and continue putting clients first. By understanding clients' changing needs and providing expert advice and support, brokers will continue to play a vital role in helping clients protect what matters most.
