Western Financial Group Supports United Way Winnipeg Plane Pull and 2026 Campaign Kickoff
Through the Western Communities Foundation, Western Financial Group's non profit arm, we have a long history of supporting the places where our people live, work, and play. That commitment was on full display as Western Financial Group and the Western Communities Foundation took part in United Way Winnipeg’s Plane Pull and 2026 Campaign Kickoff, a high-energy event that brought local workplaces, donors, agencies, and community champions together in support of a stronger Winnipeg.
Held at RRC Polytech Stevenson Campus, the Plane Pull invited participating teams to pull together, literally, while helping United Way Winnipeg launch another year of important fundraising for the city.
For Western, the event was a meaningful reminder of what community support looks like in action. Our team showed up with energy, spirit, and a shared commitment to helping make Winnipeg a stronger place for everyone. Pulling a plane is no small feat, but neither is addressing the needs of a growing community. Events like this create momentum, build awareness, and help support the local agencies and programs that many Winnipeggers rely on every year.
Since 2001, the Foundation has helped strengthen communities across Canada through employee-led fundraising, volunteerism, infrastructure grants, bursaries, emergency support, and partnerships with organizations that make a real difference close to home. In Manitoba, that commitment continues through support for causes that help create safer, more connected, and more inclusive communities.
United Way Winnipeg plays an important role in that work by bringing people and organizations together to respond to local needs. Its annual campaign supports a wide network of community agencies and initiatives focused on helping people access the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive. By participating in the Plane Pull, Western’s team had the opportunity to contribute to that broader impact while taking part in a fun and memorable team-building experience.
Last year, Western teams proudly pulled an 80,000 lb. jet in support of United Way Winnipeg, celebrating teamwork, friendly competition, and the spirit of giving back. This year’s participation built on that same energy, with team members once again pulling in the same direction for a cause that matters.
