Western Financial Group Named IBAM Community Champion
Western Financial Group is proud to share that we have been named the IBAM Membership Community Champion Award recipient, recognizing our ongoing commitment to giving back and strengthening the communities where we live, work, and play.
Presented by the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba (IBAM), the Community Champion Award celebrates organizations that demonstrate meaningful leadership, generosity, and long-term impact through community involvement. The award was accepted on Western’s behalf by Western Communities Foundation Board members Morgan Mackenzie, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Strategy, Partnerships & Transformation, and Matt Friesen, Senior Vice President, Central Sales & Service, representing the collective efforts of Western team members across Manitoba and throughout the organization.
This recognition speaks to something deeply rooted in Western’s culture, a belief that community impact is not a one time initiative, but an ongoing responsibility shared by all of us. Whether through volunteering, employee fundraising, payroll donations, or partnerships with our local organizations, Western team members consistently show up to support the communities that support us.
Central to this work is the Western Financial Group Communities Foundation, Western’s employee supported charitable organization that enables grassroots giving and local leadership. Through the Foundation, team members help identify and support initiatives that improve safety, accessibility, resilience, and overall wellbeing in the communities they serve.
Across Canada, the Western Communities Foundation has granted more than $9 million to support our local communities. This includes more than 490 infrastructure projects, emergency services and student scholarships, and supporting causes such as emergency services, youth programs, and social services. In Manitoba, this includes long-standing partnerships and locally led initiatives that create visible, meaningful impact.
This award belongs to every Western team member who continually gives their time, energy, and care to making a difference. Together, we will continue to support strong, connected communities — today and for the future.
