Fight Women's Cancers with Quote 4 Cures
Calgary – More than 91,000 Canadian women will be diagnosed with cancer this year.
This shocking statistic can be hard to believe, but it can also inspire a movement for change. And it’s exactly what motivated Western Direct Insurance to support the Canadian Cancer Society’s efforts to change cancer forever.
The community focused company is back for a second year with its Quote 4 Cures campaign, which raises money to fight women’s cancers. For every car or home insurance quote completed in Alberta during the month of October – be it online (www.westerndirect.ca), over the phone (1-855-674-6338) or in person through more than 45 Western Financial Group branches across Alberta – Western Direct Insurance will donate $10 to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Western Direct Insurance’s Quote 4 Cures coincides with Women’s Cancer Health Awareness Month, during which the Society focuses on raising awareness of breast, cervical, melanoma and colorectal cancers. Combined, these four cancers account for more than 40 per cent of new cancer cases in women.
Money raised through Quote 4 Cures will be designated to Society-funded research into women’s cancers. Furthermore, the campaign will remind women to speak with their doctors about screening and early detection – two of the most important tools in the fight against cancer. In most cases, catching cancer in its early stages is the key to successfully beating it.

Even though she had no previous health issues, the busy Calgary mother of four kept telling her husband something wasn’t right. But she never imagined she would be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2009 at the young age of 37 (the majority of people diagnosed with colorectal cancer are over the age of 50).
As a cancer survivor, Seifert wants to help raise awareness of the importance of early detection.
“If you know something is not right, make sure you talk to your doctor,” says Seifert. “Cancer doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can get cancer.”
If caught early, over 90 per cent of breast, cervical, colorectal and melanoma skin cancers can be treated successfully.
