What do I need to know about car insurance in Kelowna, B.C?

It’s mandatory for all drivers to purchase car insurance from ICBC to help ensure that they are protected with a basic level of coverage.

Basic autoplan insurance for ICBC includes $200,000 in third-party liability coverage. Third-party liability helps protect you in cases such as non-vehicle property damage or driving out of province, and it can protect you in situations where the law permits the other driver to sue.

If you make a third-party liability claim against the person who's responsible for a car crash and they don't have enough insurance to pay for your claim, Underinsured Motorist Protection (UMP) covers you. Basic underinsured motorist protection covers you and members of your household for claims of up to $1 million per insured person.

If you want to increase the amount of coverage you have in the event, you're responsible for a crash, you may want to consider extended third-party liability coverage, an optional Autoplan coverage.

I am updating this review as of March 6, 2025 because of the incredible service I received from the staff member Rachel. She was not only incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, but she actually took the time to thoroughly research relatively obscure facts for me in order to ensure accuracy, rather than risk inadvertently providing misinformation. This is how every business should behave. She also called me back exceptionally quickly after she retrieved said information. Rachel really did go above and beyond making sure to answer my questions in a friendly and accurate manner, and I am very happy with this company thanks to her service - as well as the many other staff members I’ve worked with here over the years who also provided seamless, quick and highly positive experiences. Lisa Domineli stood out as well, as she provided a fantastic 10 out of 10 experience when I posted my first review of this location several years ago. It would seem professionalism here is far from dead, and is rather still at its peak. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to make their insurance experience more understandable, relatable, friendly, more affordable, and…dare I say it…even kind of fun! Thank you ALL so much for a job EXSQUISITELY done!
