On Friday, July 28, Elaine Cao, Director, Total Rewards, represented Western at the Toronto Stock Exchange along with representatives from other partner organizations, where Jumpstart was invited to ring the closing bell.
It marked a monumental day in recognizing the value refugees bring to our Canadian economy as well as the hard work that Jumpstart does in economically empowering refugees, refugee claimants, and forcibly displaced people in Canada.
Western provides mentorship and talent recruitment
As an organizational partner, Western supports Jumpstart in achieving its mission and its work in diversity, inclusion, and talent. “As a newcomer to Canada, finding meaningful work is important to creating a new life. Western is committed to helping remove barriers to career opportunities for members of equity-seeking groups such as refugees,” said Avelia Stewart, Manager, DEI & Sustainability. “We look forward to supporting Jumpstart in their effort to help refugees create a new life through mentorship and job opportunities.”
