What do I need to know about car insurance in Richmond, B.C?
It’s mandatory for all drivers to purchase car insurance from ICBC to help ensure that they are protected with a basic level of coverage.
Basic autoplan insurance for ICBC includes $200,000 in third-party liability coverage. Third-party liability helps protect you in cases such as non-vehicle property damage or driving out of province, and it can protect you in situations where the law permits the other driver to sue.
If you make a third-party liability claim against the person who's responsible for a car crash and they don't have enough insurance to pay for your claim, Underinsured Motorist Protection (UMP) covers you.
